  1. 1 cup Sago
  2. 1/2 cup Brown sugar or coconut sugar
  3. 2.5 cup Milk
  4. 1 tsp Cardamom powder
  5. 1/4 cup Chopped almonds, cashews and raisins mixed
  6. 2 tsp Ghee
  7. 1/2 cup Milk powder
  8. 5-6 Saffron strands
  9. As Required Water to wash and soak the Sago
  10. As Required Rose petals to garnish

  1. First, wash the sago or sabudana thoroughly two to three times.
  2. Soak it in 1 /2 cup water for 6 to 8 hours.
  3. Then drain it and turn it well with a fork to separate any sticky pearls.
  4. Keep the milk to boil in a heavy bottom pan or karhai on low to medium flame. Stir in between.
  5. When it gets boil, add the sago and mix well. Cook it in boiling milk till it gets soft and transparent. This will take 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. Then add sugar, milk powder, cardamom powder, saffron, 3 to 4 rose petals and mix well. Cook till creamy. Then remove from flame and cool to warm temperature.
  7. Roast nuts in a little ghee and add it to the Payasam. Garnish with rose petals and more nuts. Serve this Payasam after offering to god. Enjoy.
