- 1 cup Sago
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar or coconut sugar
- 2.5 cup Milk
- 1 tsp Cardamom powder
- 1/4 cup Chopped almonds, cashews and raisins mixed
- 2 tsp Ghee
- 1/2 cup Milk powder
- 5-6 Saffron strands
- As Required Water to wash and soak the Sago
- As Required Rose petals to garnish

- First, wash the sago or sabudana thoroughly two to three times.
- Soak it in 1 /2 cup water for 6 to 8 hours.
- Then drain it and turn it well with a fork to separate any sticky pearls.
- Keep the milk to boil in a heavy bottom pan or karhai on low to medium flame. Stir in between.
- When it gets boil, add the sago and mix well. Cook it in boiling milk till it gets soft and transparent. This will take 15 to 20 minutes.
- Then add sugar, milk powder, cardamom powder, saffron, 3 to 4 rose petals and mix well. Cook till creamy. Then remove from flame and cool to warm temperature.
- Roast nuts in a little ghee and add it to the Payasam. Garnish with rose petals and more nuts. Serve this Payasam after offering to god. Enjoy.
