  1. Dough
  2. 2 cups - Rice Flour
  3. 2 cups - water
  4. 2 tbsp - Sugar
  5. 1tbsp - Ghee
  6. Stuffing
  7. 1/2cup - desiccated Coconut
  8. 1/2cup - Jaggery
  9. 1/4 cup - Mawa/Khoa
  10. as required Some almonds and cashewnuts
  11. 1/2 tsp - Cardamom Powder

Instructions to make to make Ukadiche Modak

  1. First take 2 cups of water in a pan and bring it to a boil. Add sugar and ghee to the water.
  2. Add 2 cups of rice flour and mix it well. Cover it with a lid and cook on medium flame for 5 mins
  3. Transfer it to a big bowl and knead it. Use ghee when required. It would be little hard to knead the dough. Make a soft dough out of it.
  4. For stuffing add ½ cup of desicated coconut and roast it for a min. Add ½ cup of jaggery and mix it well with coconut.
  5. Add ½ cup Mawa, some almonds and cashews, Cardamom powder and mix it well. The stuffing is ready.
  6. For making modak you can use the hands and make plates or you can use modak mould
  7. Grease the modak mould with ghee, close it and add some dough in it press to the walls, add 1 tbsp of stuffing and again add a peice of dough on top and seal it.
  8. Gently open the mould. Make all modak using same process. Steam modak at medium - high flame for 15-20 mins.
  9. Delicious ukadiche modak are ready.
