  2. For Mutton Marination
  3. 1 tbsp Ginger paste
  4. 1 tbsp Garlic paste
  5. 4 Tbsps Curd
  6. 1 Tsp Turmeric powder
  7. 1 Tsp Salt
  8. For Curry Gravy
  9. 1 medium sized onion sliced
  10. leaves as required few Curry
  11. 1 Tomato chopped
  12. 2 tbsps Ghee
  13. As per taste Salt
  14. as needed Water
  15. For Dry Roast Masala
  16. 2 Tsp Coriander seeds
  17. 1.5 Tsp Cummin seeds
  18. 1.5 Tsp Black peppercorns
  19. 4 Green Cardamom
  20. 1 small Stick Cinnamon
  21. 6 Whole Dry Red Chillies
  22. 5-6 Cloves
  23. leaves as required few curry
  24. 1/2 Cup Grated Coconut

Instructions to make to make Rustic Style Spicy Chettinad Mutton

  1. Marinate the mutton and keep aside for few hours or overnight. Dry roast the spices and the coconut seperately. Make a paste out of the spices and Coconut. I didn't make a fine paste in the mortar pestle, if you want make a fine paste in mixer grinder. Heat oil in a kadai, add the onion and curry leaves and cook till the onion becomes translucent. Add the Marinated mutton and saute it, cover and cook for about half and hour in its own juice.
  2. Then after that add the tomatoes and the masala coconut paste and mix well and cook for another half hour or till the meat gets well cooked, add hot water as and when needed. Adjust consistency of the gravy. I wanted a dry kind to have with Rice, Sambhar and Rasam hence made a dry kind as you can see. If you want gravy add water and adjust.
