  1. 750 gms Thin Poha
  2. 250 gms Peanuts
  3. 250 gms Chana Dal
  4. 1/2 Cup Whole Coriander
  5. 1/2 Cup White Sesame Seeds
  6. 1/2 cup Poppy Seeds (Khaskhas)
  7. 1/2 cup Fennel Seeds (Saunf)
  8. 2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  9. 1/2 tsp Asfoetida (Hing)
  10. 5 Onions medium (Thinly Sliced)
  11. 10-12 Green Chillies (Chopped in 1/2 inch pieces)
  12. 1 Cup Curry Leaves
  13. 1 Cup Coriander Leaves (Chopped)

  15. 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  16. 1 tsp Red Chilli powder
  17. 1 tsp Sugar
  18. 1 Cup Cooking Oil

Steps to make to make Poha Chivda For Diwali Faraal

  1. Assemble all the Ingredients together. Heat a Big Kadhaai and Dry-roast the thin Poha until crisp and light. Keep aside to cool.
  2. Heat Oil In the same Kadhaai.
  3. Fry the peanuts until crisp. Do not over fry them. Ensure that they don't turn dark brown or turn burnt. Keep them aside alongwith the roasted Poha.
  4. Fry the whole Coriander Seeds in the oil. Once they turn light brown in colour, Add the mustard seeds and let them splutter well. Add the finely sliced Onion and fry well.
  5. Once the onion turns caramel brown in colour, shift it to one side of the kadhai and fry the curry leaves and green chillies and Coriander leaves in the oil. Once they turn crisp, Mix them with the onions well and fry for a minute.
  6. Separate the mixture to the side of the kadhai and add the Khaskhas to the oil in the center of the Kadhai. Once it starts spluttering, mix it with the remaining mixture and fry again for two minutes.
  7. Add the salt, turmeric Powder, Red chilli powder, Asfoetida, Fennel seeds, White Sesame Seeds, Sugar and fry well for 2-3 minutes mixing it intermittently.
  8. Add the Chana Dal and mix well for another 4-5 minutes until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed together and the mixture emits a nice aroma.
  9. Add the Roasted Poha and fried Peanuts and mix them into the mixture, taking care to do so gently as the roasted Poha can crumble if mixed too vigorously.
  10. Roast well for 5 minutes and turn off the stove and let the Chivda cool completely. Pack it in an air-tight container.
