- 1 cup suji/rava
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp urad dal/black gram
- 1 tsp bengal gram
- 1 chopped onion
- 3 green chillies slit
- 6-7 curry leaves
- as per taste salt
- for bajil/poha/flattened rice
- 1/2 cup fresh coconut
- 1 cup poha(thin)
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 3 red chillies
- 2 tsp jaggery powder
- 2 tsp coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 5-6 curry leaves
- as per taste salt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Instructions to make to make Sajjige bajil
- First of all for the bajil we need to make simple masala powder, dry roast red chillies& coriander seeds, let it cool down, add in to a blender along with jaggery powder and blend.. take out, mix it with poha along with fresh coconut..(no water)now for tempering to this.. heat up a pan add coconut oil, mustard seeds and curry leaves..let it splutter add, turmeric powder and salt as needed.. add this tempering to poha mix well..
- For the upma..heat up deep sauce pan add oil.. add mustard seeds, cumin seeds,curry leaves.. let it splutter, add black gram and bengal gram saute for 2-3 minutes.. now add in chopped onions, green chillies and curry leaves, saute for 4-5 minutes, add suji to this,roast on medium flame for 3-4 minutes... add salt..now add 2cups boiling hot water mix well on low flame..cover the lid cook for 3-4 minutes on low flame
- Turn off the flame and your upma is done.. serve upma along with chatpata poha...enjoy with hot cup of tea
