- Inner filling -
- 2 cup grated dry coconut
- 1/2cup wheat flour
- 1-1/2 cup powder sugar
- 3 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tsp poppy seeds (optional)
- Covering -
- 2 cup rava
- 2 cup maida
- 1/2 cup melted hot dalda ghee (moyan)
- as required Water
- For sata -
- 2 tsp corn flour
- 2 tsp ghee
- as per needed Oil for frjying
Steps to make to make Karanji (ghugra)
- Dry roast coconut, wheat flour seperately. Cool down completely. Crush the coconut with hand. Add powder sugar, roasted wheat flour, roasted poppy seeds, cardamom powder in coconut.
- Mix rava & maida in bowl. Add hot ghee as moyan to it. Mix it well.then knead a semi soft dough with water.
- Make 3 balls of dough. Put little orange food colour in one dough. Then roll chapati of 3 balls. Mix cornflour & ghee and make sata. Spread this sata on one chapati the keep 2 chapati on it. Then spread sata. Same process till 3 chapati.
- Make a tight roll and with knife cut pieces. Then roll a small puri fill the coconut filling & then press it from sides.deep fry all the karanji in oil.
- While frying you will see layers of it.enjoy karanji in diwali with other namkin.
